It’s full gear in over here in milliner land. Maybe it’s the biting cold or the slippery sidewalks, but whatever it is keeping me indoors, it’s not such a bad thing. Six new hats are in the works. SIX! Actually, five are done, one is in the works. After focused production, a wintery photo session took place. Now said photos are being edited and made suitable for human consumption.
Honestly the business side takes as much time as actually making the hats. Every detail is attended to in order to present a concise and poignant brand. Where to take the photo, what to wear, how to describe each item, how to package it. Goodness! The packaging! It took ages to find a reasonably priced boxing option that looks decent. I like the ones that I finally found, but would love to upgrade to something swankier once there is more profit being made. Then there’s printed labels and business cards and blogging! It really takes a huge amount of work to pull it all together into your vintage/modern/personal/genuine vision.
I am extremely lucky and grateful to have Jose, my boyfriend, to help me with the whole process. He does all the design work and all the photography AND all the photo editing. He even hosts my website here. He’s pretty spectacular. And all he asks for in return is the occasional Kit-Kat and that we not watch so much Chopped. Eventually, when I’m making millions of dollars off of my hat monopoly, I will cut him in monetarily. Were it not for Jose, my photos would all be with a cell phone and would look like this ->
Many many MANY thanks Jose. You are a rocksmith and a pudding cat.
